The European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) is seeking a motivated and pro-active full-time

Programme Officer

to join its Brussels office to play a key role in ETSC's Enforcement Programme. She/he will be working closely with ETSC's Information Officer in promoting the organisation's message on enforcing compliance with key traffic rules and regulations.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Programme Officer will carry out the following principal duties:

  • Preparing reports, newsletters and press notices;
  • Providing policy and technical advice on transport safety issues to EU decision-makers with a particular emphasis on enforcement;
  • Writing fact sheets and briefings;
  • Liaising with ETSC Main Council members and national road safety experts;
  • Assisting with information gathering on key transport safety policy developments;
  • Assisting with the organisation of ETSC events, conferences and technical working meetings, and representing ETSC at meetings and conferences;
  • Assisting with the management of ETSC's website;
  • Assisting with the efficient running of the ETSC office; contributing to the development and smooth running of administrative procedures and such other duties as and when required by the Executive Director.

Profile:

Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A strong interest in transport safety, policy or planning from an NGO perspective;
  • Excellent writing skills and an ability to communicate specialist technical knowledge clearly to a non-specialist audience;
  • Knowledge of European policy processes;
  • Ability to communicate fluently, orally and in writing, in English;
  • Experience in the preparation of published reports and a proven ability to meet deadlines;
  • Effective information gathering skills, good organisational skills, a flexible approach and the ability to plan and prioritise tasks.

Contract:

  • Starting from 1st September, three-years fixed term;
  • Brussels-based, 37½ hours per week, Monday - Friday 09.00 - 17.30;
  • Holidays: 28 days per year;
  • Competitive NGO salary, according to age and experience
