Best in Europe road safety conference aims to provide an inspirational annual showcase for best practice measures and innovation in road safety in Europe. The series was launched in September 2000 by Commission Vice President Loyola de Palacio.

THE EUROPEAN TRANSPORT SAFETY LECTURE
The aim of the Brussels-based evening European Transport Safety Lecture is to draw attention to the success of research-based transport safety policymaking and provide an opportunity for professional networking and information exchange at the highest level.

The Fifth European Transport Safety Lecture:“ Ageing Europe: the challenges and opportunities for transport safety” by Professor Liisa Hakamies-Blomqvist, Scientific Director, Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute.
The Fourth European Transport Safety Lecture:“ Reducing road deaths: the EU vision,target and plan” by François Lamoureux, Director General, DG TREN.
The Third European Transport Safety Lecture: “Independent accident investigation: every citizens right, society’s duty” by Pieter Van Vollenhoven.
The Second European Transport Safety Lecture: “Safer transport in Europe: tools for decision-making” by Professor Murray Mackay.
The First European Transport Safety Lecture: “Transport Safety Visions, Targets and Strategies: beyond 2000”, by Professor Kare Rumar.
